Distillery tours at the home of the gentle dram

Tomintoul Distillery is located within the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

The Distillery is named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland.

The Distillery was established in 1965 and uses traditional techniques that stretch back hundreds of years, to make our award-winning single malt, “the gentle dram”.

About The Tour

Enjoy a guided behind the scenes tour of Tomintoul Distillery, located in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park and see how our dedicated team use traditional distilling techniques that stretch back hundreds of years, to handcraft our award-winning single malt scotch whisky.

Tours run twice daily every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with start times at 10:00 and again at 13:00. The tour will be followed by a tasting of three Tomintoul single malts. The experience lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Cost of the tour is £20 per person, which will be paid in advance of your arrival.

There are 10 spaces available on each tour and each participant must be aged 15 years or older.

2024 tours will run from 8th April 2024 to 29th October 2024. Please note that due to our annual summer maintenance programme, we have had to adapt our tours between 24th June until 25th July and as a result there is no public access to our production area during this time. In addition to tours, our Distillery shop is also open 10am – 4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Tomintoul Distillery is within the gateway to the Cairngorm National Park. It's located just over an hour’s drive from Inverness and a little under two hours from Aberdeen.
